Japanese woodworking saws are unique in that they cut on the pull stroke, giving the woodworker a degree of control and accuracy impossible to obtain with Western "push" saws. The standard grade Ryoba Noko Giri are manufactured from excellent quality high carbon steel, with accurately cut and set teeth. Each saw is carefully heat treated and tempered to 51-52 on the Rockwell C Scale. This attention to detail assures a smooth cutting action and a long lasting edge.
